J.M Tindall pumped "drip" gasoline, which formed when gas flowing through natural gas, flowing through pipelines, cooled and condensed into gasoline, slowing tranmission. Gas companies were happy to have pump jockeys like Tindall siphon the dripfor free. His tower station in Shamrock is a thing of beauty.
Conway, west of Shamrock, has none of the glamour of its neighbor, just a small gas station and a pair of grain elevators.
The screen tower for the Trail frames a crude Streamline Moderne ticket booth.
Amarillo abounds in motels. Sunbursts grace the backside of the Sundown Motel. Like so many old motels it offered kitchens to permanent residents, along with swamp coolers, "Free TV." |
