Yellowstone River | Yellowstone River Rapids | ||
Small Tree |
Inspiration Point |
The Yellowstone River cuts its deep gorge along the eastern side of the park and empties into Yellowstone Lake. At the Lower Falls a small pine takes root in the talus slope, rubble that has broken off from the yellow stone, from which Yellowstone gets its name. The river flows at the base of the slope. At at second view point at the Lower Falls and using a super close-up lens, I focused on the river, running deep in its gorge. I pulled back to find a very small tree, clinging to the yellow rock. At Inspiration Point, the river splashes through rapids and spills over a waterfall. |
